tetfund logoOsun State University conducted an In-House workshop on TetFund guidelines and procedures for its staff at the MicCom Golf Hotels and Resort, Ada, Osun State between Thursday 4th and Friday 5th of April, 2019.

The workshop was declared open by the Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor LaboPopoola.
The VC in his opening remarks welcomed participants to the workshop which centered on TETFund guidelines and procedures. He said that capacity building is one of the veritable tools towards effective service delivery in any organization. He reiterated the fact that many would be wondering about the relevance of the workshop to their schedule of work at Osun State University. ''Our experiences in recent visits to TETFund office, Abuja show that the processes may appear simple on paper, but herculean (sometimes embarrassing) in reality, especially with respect to the 2016 reviewed guidelines on TETFund interventions. Few institutions have been blacklisted by TETFund while annual interventions have been stopped in many others simply because they failed to abide by the guidelines'' the VC said.

TETFund interventions include Physical Infrastructure, Project Maintenance, Library Development, ICT Development, Entrepreneurship Development, Academic Staff Training and Development, Institutional Research, Conference Attendance, Journal Publication, and Manuscript publication, which cuts across various units in the University.

The VC noted that accountability through prudent management of available resources is the watchword of the current administration in the University and the University would not compromise this for whatever reason. The era of seeing TETFund money as national cake to be shared by all has gone. All of us must be guided by existing policies and play the game by its rules as ignorance is not known to law.
''To make this workshop impactful, we carefully invited those that have been involved in the implementation of TETFund interventions (both administratively and financially) over the years as our resource persons. I therefore, urge all participants to get involved in all the activities lined-up for this workshop. It is my fervent hope that the purpose of this workshop will be achieved. Finally, on behalf of the University Governing Council and Management of Osun State University, I declare this workshop open'' the VC said.

Papers presented at the workshop include TETFund Interventions on Physical Infrastructure, Project Maintenance, Library Development, ICT Development, Entrepreneurship Development, Academic Staff Training and Development, Institutional Research, Conference Attendance, Journal Publication, Book Publishing, Manuscript publication, Financial Regulation and Public Procurement Act, Strategies to break Administrative bottlenecks in TETFund Interventions, Keeping fit and coping with Work Stress.

At the end of the workshop, participants asked series of questions on issues that are not clear to them and answers were provided by the invited resource persons. The participants were highly delighted for the manner in which the workshop was organised which they considered as best although long overdue. They expressed great satisfaction with the content of thepresentations at the workshop and remarked that they were better informed.

The Vice-Chancellor in his closing remarks thanked the participants and the resource persons for their sacrifice and contributions towards the rebuilding of Osun State University. He pleaded that all hands must be on deck for timely and necessary documentation in order to promptly access available TETFund interventions for UNIOSUN to attain greater heights. The participants were drawn from both academic and non-academic units of the University.
