While you were away, we tasked ourselves on the release of all outstanding results, some dating back to several semesters, and I am very happy to tell you that your results are ready in your department. In case of any isolated cases of outstanding results not treated, please, feel free to contact us. Also, during this semester, you will experience renewed commitment and promptness in lecturers’ attention to your academic needs. Again, where there are lapses, do not hesitate to contact us. We released recently the resumption information on university’s website and for the avoidance of doubt the announcement is repeated here:
The 2016/2017 Rain Semester will begin on 2nd May, 2017 when the results of 2016/2017 Harmattan examinations would have been ready. Students are enjoined to resume on 2nd May 2017 and ensure that they complete registration for their courses on or before 29th May 2017. Late registration with additional fee of N10,000:00 begins on Tuesday, 30th May, and ends on Monday, 12th June 2017. Students are hereby advised to complete registration of their courses within this stipulated period.
Furthermore, I am delighted to inform you that we recently acquired three (3) Tricycles (KEKE NAPEP) for the purposes of transporting you from one point to the other on our campuses. For a start, two of the tricycles will be stationed on the main campus, Osogbo, while the other one will be for Ipetu-Ijesha Campus. We hope to extend to other campuses very within this semester. We need your cooperation and assurances that these means of commuting will be wisely utilized. Also, while you were away on holidays, the University Senate elected two new Deputy Vice Chancellors: Professor Odunayo. C. Adebooye - DVC (Academic) and Professor Janet. O. Olaitan – DVC (Administration). With this election, UNIOSUN now has a full complement of principal officers and we energized to work even more diligently.
Last semester was indeed testy. It was a kind of baptism of fire for the new administration, with some of avoidable crises. But thank God, we all survived it, and I am sure that lessons have been learnt. We all need to advise ourselves that adversarial unionism has no place in modern and civilized societies that yearn for true development. We, on our part will protect you within the limits of our statutes, but let me plead once again, like I did in my New Year message: be less adventurous, face your studies and all will be well with you.
During this semester the management will continue to ensure that you get a good value for your tuition and other fees. On our part, we will continue to work hard to conserve financial resources and block leakages so that we will be able to provide you with the needed programmes and services. Finally, as you return, I admonish you to eschew any activities that are capable of affecting the smooth running of academics throughout the semester and beyond, as we work assiduously to protect and project the name of Osun State University in order to move her forward to the greater heights we envision.
We are open to suggestions and ideas, so long as they are in the overall public interest. Please, call us any time.
I wish each of you a successful Rain Semester.
God bless us all.
