The Harvard University team led by the Oppenheimer Faculty Director of the Harvard University’s Center for African Studies, Professor Emmanuel Akyeampong deliberated with the management of Osun State University on the details of the implementation of the partnership. The Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor Clement Adebooye while addressing the team from Harvard University introduced the University as a multi-campus collegiate-based institution with a campus stationed in each of the six geopolitical zones of the state. He also gave details of the academic programmes and facilities that are available in the six campuses of Osun State University.

“This fastest-growing University owned by the Government of the State of Osun has entered into numerous international partnerships and collaborations over the years in an attempt to create visibility for itself within emerging global systems of higher education. We have also successfully implemented many international projects in collaboration with Governments and institutions in Canada, Germany and United Kingdom, and we are in partnership on international projects with the World Health Organization (WHO) and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.”

“This new partnership with Harvard University, which we are solidifying today, is yet another great one and we thank our Chancellor, Apostle (Dr.) Folorunso Alakija for creating this great opportunity for this University through her network,” Professor Adebooye added.

Professor Emmanuel Akyeampong while reacting to the Vice-Chancellor's remark welcomed the partnership and highlighted key areas where Harvard University can collaborate with Osun State University. He further offered an invite to the Vice-Chancellor of UNIOSUN alongside few management staff to visit Harvard University at their earliest convenience to meet and discuss further on other areas of partnership.

After series of deliberations and presentations from the two Universities, the Management of Osun State University and the representative of Harvard University concluded that Harvard University will collaborate with Osun State University to organize series of trainings for the new Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar; accept Post doctoral programmes from Osun State University; formulate joint research activities; visiting fellowships offer; seminars participation; curriculum development; training the trainers, among other areas which will be reviewed from time to time.
