My research works focused on Processing and Storage of Biomaterials (post-harvest technology) targeted mainly at reduction of post-harvest losses. This has been achieved so far through quality research works cutting across cleaning, grading and sorting of crops; drying and dehydration of biomaterials; development and evaluations of post-harvest/processing machines, process optimization and modeling of various unit operations in food processing, storage and general post-harvest handling and conversion of agricultural and bio wastes to wealth. This is evident in some of the papers published in referred journals or conference proceedings. The study on cleaning, grading and sorting of crops focused on classification of biomaterials based on sizes, quality, texture etc for both commercial and research purposes using image processing and artificial intelligence. Research works on drying and dehydration of biomaterials include studies on different drying characteristics, rates and behaviours of crops under varying degrees of temperature, moisture loss and its effect on biomaterials, and the use of solar energy for drying biomaterials. The development and evaluations of post-harvest/processing machines include determination of engineering properties of bio-materials prior to design of processing machines, evaluation of processing machines in terms of efficiency, capacity, performance and ergonomic adequacy. The process optimization and modeling of various unit operations in food processing, storage and general post-harvest handling include determination of optimum processing conditions for food products, food machinery and processing equipment. The conversion of agricultural and bio wastes to wealth include production of bio products (like bio diesel, bio gas and bio char) and other useful materials from waste products
