Prof. Sunday Babatunde AKINDE, a Professor of Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology is the Director of UNIOSUN MRL. He had an in-depth laboratory management experience with Fugro Nigeria prior to joining Osun State University.

His research background is in biocatalysis and biotechnology across the fields of agriculture, environment, industry, medicine and sustainable development.

He has been involved in many research and consultancy projects utilising high-throughput analytical tools and techniques with over 50 technical reports, books and original research articles. He is responsible for the overall management and coordination, as well as, design of the new UNIOSUN MRL Building Complex.
