The Department of Accounting, Banking and Finance is under the College of Management and Social Sciences, Okuku Campus. The Department offers two academic programmes;

PHILOSOPHY
The philosophy of the Department of Accounting, Banking and Finance, Osun State University, Okuku Campus is to strengthen the intellectual capacity of the students in the accounting and banking and finance discipline so as to equip them with the adequate knowledge needed for an understanding and analysis of the basic issues in the private and public sectors of the Nigerian economy
OBJECTIVES
i) Enable students to develop the ability of using modern Accounting and Management techniques
ii) Acquire the necessary professional competences which are required by Nigerian and International Accounting bodies.
iii) Produce graduates who are generally competitive in the global village and develop entrepreneurial spirit in them capable of generating self employment to the overall economic development of the country.
GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
For admission into the Department of Accounting, Banking and Finance programme of the University, a candidate shall be required to possess the following minimum qualifications:
Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5) subjects at not more than two sittings. The candidate must also earn an acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Candidates seeking admission by direct entry into the 200 level, must have at least five (5) O/L credits, two of which must be at Advanced Level or approved equivalents.
U.T.M.E. Candidates
For admission into the first degree programme in Accounting, Banking and Finance, a candidate must have the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5) subjects: English and Mathematics to form the core subjects, with credit in any of the following: Economics, Geography, Commerce, Government, Accounts and Book-Keeping at not more than two sittings. The candidate must also earn an acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Direct Entry Candidates
Candidates seeking admission by direct entry into 200 level Accounting, Banking and Finance programme, must have Advanced Level passes in at least two of the following: Economics, Geography, Commerce, Government, Accounts and Book-Keeping, in addition to credit level passes in five of the subjects listed above at the SSCE or its equivalents. Candidates with ND and approved equivalents in relevant fields with at least a lower credit may be considered for direct entry into the programme.
Also candidates with ICAN ATS (Final Level) and Foundation pass of recognized professional bodies; ICAN, ACCA (London), CIMA (UK), CIBN, CITN and others who are members of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) may be considered for direct entry. Candidates with acceptable pass in the UNIOSUN Foundation Programme are also eligible for admission for entry into 200 level, provided they possess the requisite qualification for entry into the 100 level of the programme.
Post UTME Screening
All candidates seeking admission into the University irrespective of their UTME scores shall be required to pass the University Post UTME Screening Test before being admitted.
Registration Procedure
- Students shall normally complete registration at the beginning of the semester.
- Any addition or deletion from the courses for which a student is formally registered must be made with the consent of the course coordinator.
- A student may be allowed to withdraw from a course by the course administrator before a third of lectures have been given. Such a student who withdraws after this time or who fails to sit for examination without reasons shall be deemed to have failed the course. A grade point F shall be recorded for the student in the course.
- Late registration in the course may be allowed with penalty of up to three weeks after commencement of registration.
Duration of Degree Programme
The minimum number of years to be spent to be awarded a first degree in a programme of study in non-professional area in the University shall be four years (or three years minimum for direct entry candidates). Registration shall not exceed an additional 50% of the duration of the programme if the student fails to graduate within the minimum number of years.
Graduation Requirements
To qualify for the award of a degree of the Osun State University, a student is required to have
- completed and passed the prescribed number of units including all compulsory courses specified by the University
- completed and met the standards for all required and optional courses.
- obtained the prescribed minimum CGPA.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The College of Management and Social Sciences is one of the Colleges established with the creation of Osun State University in September 2007. The College is located in a serene and peaceful environment of Okuku town, a semi-urban area located 35km North of Osogbo town, the capital of Osun State. The college has an on-campus accommodation equipped with modern facilities for students.

Research
In addition to these academic programmes, the college has a research centre: The Centre for Climatic Change and Environmental Research. The vision of the centre is to be the leading authoritative voice in climate and environmental issues in the West African sub region. The centre is committed to:
- Training a new generation of environmental professionals.
- Pushing climate and environmental science beyond traditional and educational frame works.
- Undertaking integrated and collaborative research, and providing a dynamic partnership with government and non-governmental organization and the public.
- In addition, the centre runs a 3 months Certificate Training Pogramme in Climate Change and Environmental Management.
Publication
The college published a peer reviewed journal of international standard, Osun Journal of Management and Social Sciences, whose editorial board members are drawn from across the five continents of the world.
The College of Agriculture is located in Ejigbo. The town is located along the border between Oyo and Osun State. The College is currently having four (4) Departments with students admitted into their programmes.

Physical Development
The Directorate of Works and Physical Development continues to supervise on-going physical development projects which include approach road construction, health centres, classrooms complex, ICT centre, Library building, laboratories complex, sports arena and facilities and farm structures. A feedmill factory, centres for Apicultural Research, Training and Honey Production, centre for Agricultural Extension and Outreach Services, Weather Station and a comprehensive landscape design project are in the pipeline.
The desire to create a model agricultural College is driving the tempo of physical development at Ejigbo campus.
Research Activities
Basic and applied research in agriculture and rural development are embarked upon by members of academic staff in the college. Areas of research coverage include agricultural economics, Agronomy, Horticultural science, Animal science , fisheries and aquaculture, wild life management, forestry/Environmental resources management , cooperative and agricbusiness management, Home science, Hospitality management , Agricultural journalism, Agricultural media resources development etc.

Community Empowerment Service Project:
The college establish centers and project for community empowerment and outreach service project. These are:
- CENTRE FOR AGRICULTRE EXTENTION AND OUTREACH SERVICE (CAXOS)
The centre packages and disseminate research findings as well and improved technologies for adoption and people’s empowerment at community level. - CENRE FOR AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH, TRAINING AND HONEY PRODUCTION (CARTHOP)
The cntre for established a 100 Beehive apiary for honey production and operated an agricultural and reaserch and training laboratory .it produces high quality pure natural honey called UNIOSUN HONEY and organizes entrepreneurial skills development training to present Bee-keepers and honey producers - LIVESTOCK HOSTELING PROJECT (LHP)
Establish to promote ownership of livestock and animal production enterprises by interested individuals.
