Already, three UNIOSUN students, namely: OGUNGBIRE Adedolapo Mojeed, TAJUDEEN Wasiu Olamilekan and OMOTOSHO Ridwan Ade from Faculties of Engineering, Management Sciences and Basic Medical Sciences respectively have recorded history as the first set of students to benefit from the scheme.
The Group's General Secretary, Mr. Kazeem Adetunji, said during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor on Monday, 24th July, 2017 that only the students who are indigenes of Osun State and have the highest CGPA from 4.0 and above in their respective Faculties can make the beneficiary list of the scheme.
The three winners of the scholarship emerged as a result of their outstanding results of their 2014/2015 Harmattan Semester examination. OGUNGBIRE Adedolapo Mojeed , who hails from Odo Otin Local Government of Osun has 4.79; TAJUDEEN Wasiu Olamilekan, also from Odo Otin Local Government Area has 4.77, while OMOTOSHO Ridwan Ade from Orolu Local Government Area has 4.73 for 2014/2015 Harmattan Semester.
Mr. Adetunji maintained that the beneficiaries will have their studies in the University funded from 200 Level till their graduation provided they do not fall below 4.0 in their CGPA.
Speaking about the forum and its endowment programme, Mr. Adetunji said: "Osun Development Forum is a charitable organization based in Dallas-Fort wort metroplex Texas, United States of America. The members consist of indigenes of Osun State living in the metroplex with common mission to contribute towards the development of Osun State.
"Members of the ODF aspire to contribute to the educational development of Osun State, being fully aware that education is fundamental to the growth and development of the youth.
"Starting from 2015/2016 academic year the ODF decided to add this endowment program to its plethora of means to support the socio-economic advancement of our native land – The Osun State of Nigeria.
"We endow the best students of Osun State origin in four chosen faculties/colleges within three institutions of higher learning in Osun State of Nigeria. Currently, The Osun Development Forum chooses the College of Medicine and Surgery, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Education and Faculty of Administration as applicable to each institution.
"The University recommends qualifying students from the respective faculties based on the results of their first college year’s examination. This endowment supports successful candidates until they complete their baccalaureate degree, if they continue to maintain excellent academic records as well as good moral standing throughout their programmes. The current monetary value of each endowment is a sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira (=N=100,000.00) for each of the successful candidates per academic session.
"Osun State University, Osogbo, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and Ladoke Akintola University Ogbomosho are the three tertiary institutions selected for the programme."
