The well applauded declaration was made during the convocation ceremony of the University graced by dignitaries from all walks of life.
Also present at the grand convocation event was a combined delegation of Osun State University and the government of the State of Osun, including the Deputy Governor of the State, Otunba Grace Titilaoye Tomori and the Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor Labode Popoola.
Other members of the delegation are the Chairman, Osun House of Assembly Committee on Education, Hon Bamisayemi Folorunso and the Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology of the State, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye.
At a Pre-Convocation meeting held in the administrative building of the university on Thursday, Bakirov told the delegation that Lateefah Oyeleye had emerged the overall best of all 564 final year medical students of the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University in the final examination.
Oyeleye is one of the 85 medical students of Osun State University sent to Ukraine for further medical studies by the Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola-led government of the State of Osun in 2012.
Bakirov further revealed that 50 students of UNIOSUN are among the 564 convoking students, including Dr. Oyeleye who emerged the overall best.
Karazin Kharkiv National University is one of the oldest universities in Eastern Europe and was recently rated among the best Eastern Europe classical universities known in many countries across the globe.
Since its foundation, the University has graduated over 130,000 students and is the only university in Ukraine that has produced three Nobel Prize laureates.
As a product of Osun State University, Dr. Oyeleye’s feat has unarguably added to the University’s weight on the global rank scale.
In addition to prizes that came her way as best graduating medical student in a world-class university, Dr. Lateefah Oyeleye also received from the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Labode Popoola a hand-shake with a fanciful plaque bearing congratulatory words from the University with the Vice-Chancellor’s signature appended to it as a rewarding monument for her excellent performance and a simple way of making her know that the entire UNIOSUN community is proud of her.
