Hon. Omidiran who presented the donation at a colourful ceremony witnessed by the First Lady of the State of Osun, Alhaja Sherifat Aregbesola, party leaders, staff and students of the institution, said: ‘To me, life is about purpose and a life that does not impact on others is a life without purpose.’
Hon Omidiran presents 110 laptops to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Okesina
She cautioned students to make judicious use of the laptops. In her words: ‘If you spoil it another student will not be able to make use of it. When you use it, remember to take care of it as if it is your own personal laptop. That is how you can make us happy to want to do more and bring new things that would be useful to this University, knowing fully well that they will be well taken care of.’
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adekunle Bashiru Okesina thanked the Honourable Member for her gesture. He described her as a woman of substance whose name has become a household name, associated with philanthropic, donations and selfless giving to human needs. He promised that the laptops would be judiciously used and handled with care.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Professor Olukoya Ogen thanked the First Lady of the State of Osun, Alhaja Sherifat Aregbesola, for finding time to be part of the programme. Highlight of the programme was the decoration of both the First Lady, Alhaja Aregbesola, Hon. and Ayo Omidiran with the University’s brooch.
Meanwhile, in his remarks at this event, Hon. Soji Ajayi, the Executive Secretary of Irewole Local Government Area promised to donate an 18-seater bus to the Development Office of the Osun State University to further ease the development drive of the University.
According to him, it is important that Osun State indigenes join the development initiative of the University by contributing in one way or the other. In his capacity as the Executive Secretary, he then announced a donation of an 18-seater bus, which is to be delivered in two weeks. Hon. Soji Ajayi was also decorated with the University’s brooch.
