The Council will be inaugurated at a date to be announced shortly.
Meanwhile, Governor Aregbesola has also approved the appointment of Professor Ganiyu Olatunji Olatunde, as Acting Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University with effect from 1st August, 2012.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor is currently the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and will oversee the affairs of the University pending the appointment of a substantive successor to the pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sola Akinrinade. Professor Olatunde obtained his B.Sc. (Hons) in Zoology with a Second Class Upper in 1980 from the University of Lagos and M.Sc in Agricultural Biology and Ph.D Agriculture from the University of Ibadan in 1982 and 1989 respectively. Prior to his joining the Osun State University, Professor Olatunde was an Associate Professor at the University of Agriculture (UNAAB), Abeokuta where he also served as Congregational Representative on the Senate and on many Senate Committees and as well as member of the University Council.
Professor Olatunde is a Professor of Entomology in the Department of Biological Sciences, College of Science, Engineering and Technology. Prior to his appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olatunde was the Director, Academic Planning, and a Senate representative on Council.
Professor Olatunde has published widely in national and international journals, attended numerous international and national courses including PostDoctoral training at the University of Reading, United Kingdom and has participated in many professional and administrative conferences.
Professor Olatunde is married with three children.
