During the visit, Governor Adeleke lauded Dr. Alakija for her significant philanthropic efforts, particularly her donation of a world-class teaching hospital to the university.
He emphasized the potential impact of the hospital on the local community, noting that many indigenes of Osun State are eager to work at the facility and collaborate with the university for its continued growth.
"I personally want to celebrate you for your philanthropic gesture," he said.
Additionally, Governor Adeleke discussed the revival of industries such as cocoa production in Ede, expressing hope for Dr. Alakija's partnership in these initiatives.
The University Chancellor, Apostle Dr. Folorunso Alakija, in her response, commended the Governor for his visit and the progress he is making in Osun State. She praised Governor Adeleke as an "action Governor" and encouraged him to continue his good work, praying for his continued success.
Reflecting on her tenure, Dr. Alakija mentioned her six years of service as Chancellor, noting that she will hand over the position in March 2026.
She also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to complete the hospital project, which she believes will serve patients from across Africa with its state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, earlier in his remarks, acknowledged the Governor's support in complementing the Chancellor's efforts to develop the university. He noted that Governor Adeleke had approved the construction of the access road linking the hospital to the university, which is now about 70 percent complete.
Professor Adebooye praised Dr. Alakija for her continuous support and announced that the university looks forward to her participation in the upcoming 14th convocation ceremony on September 21.
