The Deputy Minority Leader of the Nigerian Senate and Senator representing the Osun West Central District, Senator Akogun Lere Oyewumi, has expressed satisfaction with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor ‘Ayo Clement Adebooye, for positioning the University as a leading player in the education sector, a global competitor, and for the landmark achievements he has recorded since assuming office.

Senator Oyewumi made this commendation on Thursday, 31st August, 2023, when he paid a courtesy visit to the College of Humanities and Culture, Osun State University, Ikire Campus.

Senator Oyewumi visited the College to evaluate its level of infrastructural development and identify existing challenges confronting it, with a view towards how he could use his good office to assist the institution for the betterment of staff and students.

Addressing the College Community, Senator Oyewumi praised the University Management for fostering a serene, clean and conducive learning environment in the College and lauded its quality of staff. He promised to foster infrastructural development in the University, being a member of the Senate TETFUND Committee. He emphasized that the institution has made remarkable stride in this regard through its IGR.

Senator Oyewumi said “In terms of infrastructure, the school is not doing badly. I have seen a lot of intervention from TETFUND on this campus, some completed and some ongoing. The University is not lagging behind in contributing its quota to the development. They have put a lot of structure on ground from IGR like hostels, furnishing lecture rooms, theatres and laboratories, which complement the efforts of the government.”

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor ‘Ayo Clement Adebooye, ably represented by the College Provost, Professor Rotimi Fasan, warmly welcomed the Senator and highlighted the University’s rapid expansion and growth over the years. He equally solicited support of the Federal Government in building more offices for staff, lecture theatres for students, and erecting perimeter fences for adequate security.
