Osun State University, through its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, has lauded the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for approving and releasing funds for the construction of a monumental Senate building on the University's main campus in Osogbo, despite the global economic challenges.

Speaking on behalf of Council, Management, Staff and Students of the University, the Vice-Chancellor made this adulation on  Thursday, 2nd February, 2023, in his address while laying the foundation stone of the iconic Senate building of the University.

In his words, “UNIOSUN is gradually becoming the first choic University in Nigeria as evident by the magnitude of the special favor and intervention of the Federal Government.

There is no doubt that we are able to win this because of our commitment to the delivery of an unhindered, high-quality tertiary education in Nigeria.  It is a product of the  collective effort of all the primary stakeholders in the UNIOSUN project, including the people and government of Osun State.

We therefore promise  Governments at all levels as well as all stakeholders that we will not relent in doing the good things that made the University to get this gigantic support, and we shall continue to focus on achieving the University’s vision and mission as planned by the founding fathers,” the Vice-Chancellor added.

The building is a major and significant Federal Government intervention through TETFUND for tertiary education delivery and development in Nigeria. The ultramodern Senate Building is scheduled to be completed within seventy-six (76) weeks as announced by the Honorable Minister of Education,  Malam Adamu Adamu after the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, 1st February, 2023.

The inconic Senate building comprises a 500-capacity relaxation centre, 58 offices and one large store on the ground floor;  32 offices, 2 conference rooms, 250 capacity pavilion SENATE chamber on the first floor; and 150 capacity Council Chamber, 12 executive offices, 2 executive conference rooms on the second floor and an attic that comprises all offices in the Vice-Chancellory, including the Vice-Chancellor Office and Council Office. The building comes with all associated external works, full furnishing, two elevators, and electricity generating plant.

Late in 2022, the TETFUND also granted UNIOSUN funding for building the 500-Capacity Auditorium, Faculty of Computing, as well as 500 and 600 capacity lecture theatres across UNIOSUN campuses.
