Michaeline Asuquo ISAWUMI is a Professor of Ophthalmology. She obtained MBBCh in 1989 (University of Calabar), MSc Community Eye Health in 2002 from University College London. She has been a Consultant Ophthalmologist since 2003 and started an academic carrier as a Lecturer since 2004.

She has held many academic positions as well as hold positions in national professional bodies. She has been Head of department across 2 Universities (LAUTECH Osogbo and Osun State University) since 2007. Acting Dean across 2 Faculties (Basic Medical Sciences, and Clinical Sciences, since 2013).

She belongs to many professional bodies both nationally and internationally and has also attended many national and international conferences and workshops with papers presented.

Research Interests, Achievements / Specialization:
Her research interests lie in general, community, paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus as well as general medicine that affects the population where she has contributed immensely to know. Life member and Fellow of the Nigerian Postgraduate Medical College (FMCOphth 2003), Life member and Fellow of the West African College of Surgeon (FWACS 2004), Fellow of International College of Surgeons (FICS 2007), and a Fellow of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus obtained from L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad , India.(FLVPEI 2009).
She is a member of American Academy of Ophthalmology,American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and World Society for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
She is a project consultant to Lions Club International Foundation on the project “SIGHT FIRST” 2019-2024 and one of the Facilitators for the SiB(Seeing Is Believing) Project in Osun State of Nigeria.(2017-18). She is a reviewer for many local and international journals

Contributions to knowledge
She has over 50 scholarly publications in local and international journals as well as conference proceedings and book of abstracts. She has supervised 5 Senior Residents in the Fellowship examination

Scientific /Professional Activities:
She has chaired international and national conference sessions. Has been member of national pediatric ophthalmology working group and curriculum design tor the Nigerian Subspecialty training.
She was the 1st Vice Chairman and currently the Treasurer of the Women Ophthalmologist of Nigeria

Academic / Professional Appointments
Was also the Chairperson of the LOC 2019, Ophthalmoogical Society of Nigeria Osun state branch. She has led several community outreaches and pioneered the last glaucoma week awareness and screening outreach done in UNIOSUN 2017.
She has been a resource person in the Nigerian Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Society postgraduate training in 2016.
