Biosketch:
My major research works in pharmacology include drug-reposioning, drug-discovery and herbal evaluation in the treatment of infectious diseases, especially malaria and bacterial infections. My activities involve screening orthodox drugs for other indications apart from what they are originally approved for. Furthermore, herbs are not only evaluated for their chemotherapeutic, but also therapeutic effects in non-infectious diseases.
I have made the following contributions to science: (i) Establishment of antibacterial activity of Vitellaria paradoxa, (ii) repositioning of GABA analogs - gabapentin and pregabalin for the treatment of malaria and (iii) implication of the thrombospondin-related proteins (classified as type 1 thrombospondin).
